eMachines eM250
KAV60 LA-5141P
no power on. adapter power is good.

how to deal with short on the +5VALWP after the inductor.

tried supplying external 5v on the line but the supply wire gets very hot and starts to melt the insulating material. i am using an Ethernet cable for the supply wire.

thanks

From the schematic, 5valwp is on PL4, PJ4 and Q6, so to know what is causing the short you have to disconnect q6 or close pj4, and see if the short is coming from PU4(tps51427) or not.

You have to be very careful when dealing with shorts on a motherboard because just one mosfet or capacitor can short most of the components.

yes thank you. after locating and removing the 1st shorted capacitor, i did not bother to check the other lines for short too. till next time i guess.
